Howards at the double as Sports return to home action

Sports finally returned home in almost a month due to weather postponements. Despite some last minute rain it was great to finally have a fixture in front of an expectant crowd.

The visitors had their safety secured following results the night before and so all pressure was off and an open game expected.

Sports were without Myatt, Humphreys, Convey and Reilly but saw Watts, White and Wynne return.

Sports started the game well and Howards lobbed the keeper just wide when put through. The lead came when Watts drove forward with typical determination. His pass found Howards who fired home. It was soon 2-0 when Barton won the ball back and found an excellent pass to Rose. His cross flashed across the box for Howards to tap home.

The visitors got one back soon after. Kinch tried to head away a through ball but inadvertently headed it through to the striker as Watkins slipped. The strikers shot was saved but No 9 tapped in the rebound.

Sports restored the two goal lead when an innocuous through ball saw the keeper, defender and Eyre all collide. Eyre stretched out a leg to tap into an empty net.

In the second half Eynesbury made it 3-2 with an excellent curling shot giving White no chance.

The remained of the half remained even with White tipping over late on.

A good three points to start a run of 5 home games.
