DISAPPOINTMENT ALL ROUND FOR PLAYERS AND MANAGERS

Sports turned in arguably their worst performance of the season and were well beaten 0-4 by a talented youthful Abingdon United side. Although Easington were the better side in the first half an hour of the game, there were few chances on goal. The early pressure came to nothing and Abingdon took the lead soon after following on from some in-decision in the defence.

The second half was certainly the worst half of football all season and Easington managed to give away two penalties which made sure that a comeback was unlikely. Sports struggled to get out of second gear and the visitors were too sharp and fast at moving the ball around for the home side. A final goal for Abingdon made it 0-4 and leaves managers Phil Lines and Assistant Darren Beckett with some difficult decisions leading into another home game against Letcombe next Saturday. Sports will be desperate to pick up further points in order to stay in touching distance of a top 5 finish.
