Sports exit league cup

Andy Sharman and squad made the long journey to UCLS Prem North side Ashby Ivanhoe FC for their Sports Ground Development Ltd cup fixture

On arrival, they found an incredibly heavy pitch which would cause both sides issues through the afternoon.

Sports started well and Howards and Buckingham were both causing issues. Ashby were reduced to 10 men when the No 8 was sin binned for slamming the ball into the floor. Sports were unable to capitalise on their numerical advantage.

It was the hosts who took the lead. The left winger ran at Swann and seemed to lose his footing in the boggy surface. A penalty was awarded much to Sports disgust which was converted.

Soon after Sports were left even more frustated. An innocuous ball played into the box. As Myatt came out the striker threw himself to the floor, some distance from Myatt. Both the referee and assistance awarded a penalty. Thankfully this was saved by Myatt.

Before half time the frustrations continued as Howards was caught by a high foot in the box, which somehow the ref awarded an indirect free kick in the area. Conveys shot went over.

In the second half the hosts played much better and dealt with conditions. It was quickly 2-0 when the ball wasnt cleared from a corner and finished. Two more clinical finishes from Ashby in the end sealed a comfortable win and a day to forget for Sports.

Sports will need to be much better next week as the host Newport Pagnell Town FC.
