Easington Sports Football Club is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former club stalwart Neil Clarke just before Christmas.
Nobby was a true gentleman in every sense of the word and a valued, much-respected member of our club. There was not a job at Easington Sports that Nobby had not done, and he gave his time, effort, and support selflessly over many years. Whatever the result — win, lose, or draw — Nobby could always be found highlighting a positive, offering encouragement, and keeping spirits up around the club… this would have been helped along the way by a few rounds of drink!
Nobby will be fondly remembered by players, officials, volunteers, and supporters alike, and his contribution to the club will never be forgotten. For those fortunate enough to have played when Nobby was on the committee, you would remember being greeted by him on a Saturday, often with the TV on, the newspaper out and a Lucky 7s predictions sheet close by to grab you before going into the changing rooms! He was always a popular man and visiting teams used to enjoy his hospitality and company.
For those working with him on the club committee, he was always happy to turn his hand to anything and would be supportive of any fundraising event that would keep the club going or to provide things to improve the experiences for the teams on the pitch.
Nobby was also well known to local football and there will be fond memories for lots of people who had spent time with him over the years either playing with or against him... or in the bar after the game.
Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with Neil’s family and friends at this very difficult time. He will be greatly missed by everyone connected with Easington Sports.
Rest in peace, Nobby xx
