Easington Sports Football Club is celebrating another significant milestone in its commitment to grassroots football, as the club reaches the end of the third year of support through the Football Foundation's Enhanced Pitch Maintenance Fund at its youth football base at Wykham Park Academy.
The grant programme has played a vital role in transforming the quality of the club's playing surfaces, helping to provide the best possible environment for hundreds of young players across the Easington Sports youth section.
Although the club now contributes directly towards ongoing pitch maintenance costs, the funding has enabled Easington Sports to invest more than £25,000 over the past 12 months on specialist pitch treatments, regular cutting programmes, overseeding and fertiliser applications.
The results are clear to see. Following a challenging summer of drought conditions, the pitches have recovered exceptionally well thanks to the combination of favourable recent weather, targeted overseeding and a comprehensive maintenance programme. The playing surfaces are currently in great condition which the club hope will lead to uninterrupted match days leading up to Christmas.
Providing high-quality pitches remains one of the club's top priorities as part of its wider commitment to player development. Alongside continued investment in facilities, Easington Sports has also worked closely with Oxfordshire FA to deliver coach development opportunities, ensuring that young players benefit from both excellent facilities and high-quality coaching.
The club believes that creating the right environment is essential to helping young people enjoy football, develop their skills and build lasting connections within their community.
As one of the area's few recognised Thriving Community Clubs, Easington Sports continues to place community benefit, player development and long-term sustainability at the heart of its plans. Investment in facilities, volunteer development and coaching standards remains central to the club's vision for the future.
We are delighted with the progress that has been made to our pitches over recent seasons. The support from the Football Foundation's Enhanced Pitch Maintenance Fund has allowed us to make significant improvements and provide playing surfaces that our young players can be proud of.
Quality pitches and quality coaching go hand in hand. Alongside our coach development work with Oxfordshire FA, we remain committed to giving every player the best possible experience, whether they are attending a training session or pulling on an Easington shirt on matchday.
These improvements are a fantastic example of what can be achieved when investment and planning come together."
