Sports are back in action at Addison Road after a mid week game at Daventry Town. Easington grabbed all three points from the game which is much needed if they are to move up the table, and more importantly, away from the relegation places.
This was a gritty display and whilst the best chances of the game were created by Sports, there were still some nervy moments in the final stages. Sam Lawrence showed good striker's instincts to follow up a shot from Josh Yeboah to get the simplest of tap ins. That said, to be the first to the rebounds is part of the game and he deserved the goal as he was the first player to react.
A rare clean sheet was also a big boost. Daventry were desperate for the game to be played mid week and clearly there were loan players from step 4 sides in the squad. This was therefore a really good performance which breaks the cycle of defeats.
Sports have recently hosted Histon and Moulton in recent games at Addison Road. Both sides have since gone on to beat top sides in the league and remain in the play off positions which shows Easington are still moving in the right direction and competing with the stronger sides in the league.
Andy Sharman will have virtually the same squad for the game against Leicester Nirvana on Saturday. He is also pleased to be adding Jake Humphreys back into the squad after suspension and Endri Stathi who has been injured. Josh Bowden and Brayden McCatrney are out with injuries and Tom Smith is still suspended.
