Sports win away at Daventry in cold rearranged midweek fixture
After Saturdays postponed fixture, Sports travelled to Daventry looking for an important away win. With Smith and Humphreys both suspended, Stathi and McCartney injured Sports had seven players in the squad aged 18 or younger.
On a heavy pitch in cold conditions it was never going to be a classic. The hosts started well and looked to get in down the left hand side but Jordan Godfrey showed his experience and dealt with it well. As always Sports looked a threat going forward with Lawrence and Yeboah both causing problems.
The hosts had a good chance to score when the ball went in the air after a block, however the ball was toe poked over.
Sports took the lead when a good run by Yeboah saw his shot saved only for the keeper to push it into the path of Lawrence.
In the second half Sports had a great chance to extend the lead when Morgan saw his shot came off the bar from close range.
A scrappy second half with Sports soaking up late pressure without any clear cut chances.
An excellent away performance and great result
