After the welcome respite of an FA Vase cup match last week, Sports are back on the road and face promotion contenders Aylestone Park.
Sports were deserved winners last week and turned in a confidence boosting display against Holmer Green. The impressive Josh Yeboah ran the line well and was a constant threat alongside all of Easington’s attacking starters and finishers as Sports ran out 6-1 winners.
The result highlights the potential and quality within the first team dressing room right now as the young side dominated possession and played some attractive football carving out a number of chancesb that were taken, progressing Sports into the next round. The step up in levels are something this side has struggled with up till now and is something the players will nned to quickly adjust to. Sports will be looking for a similar display against Aylestone as they put in a few weeks ago.
Easington had a strong second half display in the league cup and drew level with Aylestone after slumping to a 0-2 half time score. An agonisingly late winner for Aylestone prevented the game going to penalties and manager Andy Sharman will be delighted if the game could be this close at the weekend.
On the road has been a real baptism of fire for the young Easington Side and there have been some heavy defeats. Manager Andy Sharman will be looking for the side to draw on these experiences and will be looking to manage the fixture this weekend much better.
To help with this, Sports are delighted to be adding Luke Swan and Jake Humphreys back into the squad for this United Counties league match. Both have returned to bolster the squad and to add much needed experience. Humphreys in particular, was outstanding last season in defence and the move will be a popular one amongst all supporters as we look to tighten up at the back.
Other new signing Brandon Williams is however unavailable whilst Josh Yeboah has turned down Hinkley FC after Sports received a 7 day approach for the striker.
Andy Sharman has some difficult decisions to make with regards to the goalkeeping position with Jamie Adim and Adam Doyle both unavailable this week. Sports will be hoping both are available next week with Adim taking longer to recovery from injury than was hoped.
Easington Sports Development team will therefore be at home this week against Kidlington Development. This should be a great encounter between two local sides.
3pm kick off at Addison Road and so why don’t you come down to support our talented development team.
Free entry to the game with plenty of refreshments on sale.
